a quick quick sketch with a good ole HB pencil on scrap of paper without peeking at a waratah picture or reference. I also STOPPED myself from grabbing the eraser, being too perfect or adding other mediums (I'm a mixed media addict so THAt was hard!) I found that I was really concentrating on the roundness of the Waratah. I could almost feel the texture of those glossy fingers reaching up and curving round. xx
Love love love those who have taken this challenge up!
I am committing to ONE WARATAH THIRTY WAYS THIRTY DAYS
Ok I kinda played it safe today! I am in the middle of illustrating a product (sort of a book) and so I turned to my 30Journey and created in the same style.
medium: wax pencils, pen, ink, charcoal, graphite on bamboo paper
One of my all time favourite artists is Brett Whiteley... I've probably been to his studio here in Sydney more times than any other art gallery in my life.... You can go... this isn't a name clanging drop, so MANY establishments and insitutions have OPEN DAYS and in fact Brett Whiteley's Studio is run by the Art Gallery of NSW so it's just like a gallery itself now. It's AMAZING you can actually walk around his studio, JUST AS HE LEFT IT!
I just adore his passion, his studio work method, ok ok ok not his downfall... But lets's talk about BIRDS!
I have one of his prints in my home of "the Lyerbird" that I purchased at the AGNSW..... I LOVE LOVE LOVE that painting but more over it's the journey of it's creation. Whitely was an explorer of concept that I admire greatly. If you are Australian.... How can you not INSTANTLY smile and say YES That is everything I FEEL and KNOW is Lyerbird!!!!!
In his studio there is a note on the wall it reads "30 different birds in 30 days. 30 days same birds 30 different ways." I have always found THIS piece of scrap paper that I stumbled on one day when visiting many MANY moons ago, one of the most inspiring personal finds from someone I regard as an unmet mentor. It shows something beyond mear illustration of a bird it shows a deep willingness to really understand subject .
EXERCISE FOR YOU! .... and ME too!
30JOURNEYs Commit to exploring a subject 30 different ways over 30 days. The easier would naturally be thirty different subjects over 30 days, the more difficult 30 different ways, same subject. These can be sketches, photo, sculptures, ANYTHING AT ALL. Brett also made a similar commitment when on his scholarship to Paris, he created an artwork of the city every day. Some days it was nothing more than a sketch on a napkin. it IS a very deep exercise so I suggest you set a start date and try it. Commit and start to really KNOW your subject!
I shall be starting today and will post my work here on my blog. I commit to ...... "30Journeys of Waratah"! My plan is to share different mediums including drawing, collages, paint, photography and MORE! I won't use things I've already done, I shall create new art big or small every day.
I was thinking 30 DIFFERENT Flowers but I already kinda do that :) It is best to stretch yourself a bit if you have never done this type of thing before. You could also decide on poetry, short stories, anything creative. EXPLORE my friend!!
If you want to see these as they progress, I will put a link up the top of this blog page "30Journeys" and if you would like to share yours, perhaps start sharing on your Blog, Website, Social Media Pages and PLEASE link in the comment field of my posts and share on my Facebook page so I can SEE!! I'd love too! Just title it "30Journeys" www.facebook.com/cheralyn.darcey
~FLOWER ENERGY & PETS~ You can utilise the Energy of Flowers for your pets in similar ways that you do with yourself and other humans! You need to be careful of Botanical and Toxicity issues so please scroll down and read through the links I have provided. Pets can benefit from Flower Essences to assist in regaining health, recovering from injury and for emotional support and they are excellent for behavioural issues. Flower Energy Readings can be created just the same as you would for your human friends too and these can assist pinpoint the cause of an issues and provide keys for you to work out a plan to help your animal friend with guidance.
~FLOWER ESSENCES FOR PETS ~
PURCHASED FLOWER ESSENCES These can be used as they are straight from the bottle. The amount of alcohol is very small and would not effect MOST dogs and cats. (you must be responsible for investigation this for your pet) Do not use with Birds or Fish, check for other animals. There are alcohol free essences on the market, check ingredients for compatibility with your type of pet.
CREATING YOUR OWN BASIC information for creating your own Essences can be found in the Books I have listed below or in an early post on My Blog here: HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN FLOWER ESSENCE
When creating for animals, I would use Apple Cider Vinegar as a preservative fill your bottle 3/4 with purest water you can and 1/4 apple cider vinegar.
This is my video with a few tips on Administering Flower Essences to Dogs....
*OTHER ANIMALS: Please check the books below in the Resource list for in depth instruction on administering Essences to other animals.

SUNDAR'S READING
I will pop back to the forum at 9pm to share tonight! THIS LINK:
~TOXIC PLANT & FLOWER CHECKLIST~ There are plants that are toxic to animals. Some may be fine with us humans, BUT toxic and even fatal to your pet. Check any plant first before you are using it near your pet for possible issues. When using Flower Essences this will not be a concern due to legible amount of plant material, if any at all, present in your preparations, either created by your or purchased. When using certain plants around your pet to bring the fresh flower energy inyto their space, ensure that they are NOT TOXIC in case your pet decides to chew or eat.

Would YOU like the opportunity to colour my Wildflower Oracle Signature Sketches YOURSELF? I'll add one here on this post and YES colour it in and PLEASE post it back on my wall with your comments.
I find that colouring in a flower or plant is a very meditative practice for all and enables you to connect with it on deeper levels, especially those perhaps not flowering right now or available in your corner of the world.
Children LOVE it and it opens up lots of learning opportunities about Nature and our care of the precious Earth.
I'll add the Botanical name of each so you can easily google them and see examples of colours, BUT there are no rules! This is YOUR experience and I would love to see the outcomes if you would like to share them.
Looking forward to seeing what happens..... Please let me know about your experience. I wish you a Blessed and Happy day my friends xx

I embrace all on the same Path. Some have built Castles along the way, others Tree Houses and beautiful log cabins and still others are Gypsies still wandering.
I do not agree with all of my fellow travellers, those I nod to and still share my Path because travellers change as their journey develops and who knows which of us may do so. Some I am in awe of and have great respect for and am inspired by. Still others, I am welcoming along and lending a helping hand by sharing the insight that I have gained. I am joyful for the company.
What I have learned & live by..... I do not use the warmth & the light, the fire of knowledge and experience that the illumination has given me to burn others or try to show up imperfections and stumbles in order to boost my own ego & to appear to shine brighter. I use it as a Guide for myself and for others.
When your emotions bring you to express anger, ridicule and other negative responses to another on your Path, look within. The answers are right there. It is either fear & insecurity surrounding your own work or the illumination of the reflection of similar qualities within yourself that you do not like and wish never to be noticed by your fellow travellers.
If others on your Path are truly dangerous and there needs to be public knowledge in order to stop this harm being being done, then bring this about in consultation openly, respectfully and with honour.
You will meet many on your chosen Path. Be the Traveller you would want to Walk with.
A Flower to support you on your Path..............
THE DAISY There are many Flowers that we give the common name of DAISY to. Most cultures are refering to the English Common Daisy ~ Bellis perennis pictured here....
It actually encompanses all of the family of flowers known as Asteraceae and this includes Sunflowers, gerbers, camomile, dahlias and so on. These have similar properies to The English Daisy but there are definate differences.
In the Meditation this week I actually give you a lot of the energetic signature of this daisy so rather than just list them here, listen to the meditation to really feel, understand and learn them.
Daisies central keynotes are Purification, Protection and Wholehearted & Purpose Living.

my working sample shown in the video I would REALLY love you to work on creating a few of these and until you do, I don't like sharing my completed ones. It's ALL about what YOU feel & see and I don't want you to be influenced by my interpretations.
A great exercise I'd love you to try is to look at my colours and what I said in video three and see if YOU can write an interpretation. You are welcome to share it with me if you like.
These are a very basic start & suggestions you may wish to explore. I selected the first two as they are available on Kindle as well as hard copy. You my wish to explore Colour Correspondances a lot deeper to gain a better understanding:

What IF Flowers and Plants are not only making themselves desirable to animal and insect pollinators but also to us? Are we the Ultimate Pollinators?
At present I am in the final stages of writing a new book and this work is assisting me greatly in my research with Flowers and their Energetic Signatures. I am finding more and more reasons that especially in Australia , in a land which has the most abundant and prolific flora that we still have such a strong association with the flowers of our ancestors and it goes beyond simple nostalgia.
Australia has well over 25,000 different flowering plants, or angiosperms, the UK around 2,500. So why is it that we still look towards this small group of Flowers for healing, guidance and insight? Why do they even 'work' for us at all?
What are the alignments between the Introduced and Native Flowers and Plants and why have we favoured certain Native Species over others? The interesting thing is that I have found time and time again direct energetic correlations and correspondences between these popular natives of suburban gardens and counterparts from the Northern Hemisphere.
Has Botany made itself desirable to us in this new land so that we have carried the seed for it and made it the success it is.
My questioning right now is why is the Grevilla so very loved in Australia and why has it become the most widespread and popular Native. If you have a connection with this plant in any way I would love to hear from you. Grevillea bipinnatifida
