September Talisman Collection Launch ~ TODAY

Sep1Welcome to the release, launch, setting free of, presentation... the UNVEILING of my new talismans.
I am so excited that you have joined me today and how cool is it that we can actually do this online and anyone can come along.
I have been creating Talismans for many years and for the past few months have been a bit quieter as I developed new techniques (stronger, sturdier creations), incorporated more natural elements, (my own pressed flowers, collected and gifted plants, collected rocks and seashells, fallen timbers and found driftwoods), and experimented with new styling... hey i'm an Artist! I do that! :)
I hope that you enjoy where this particular Art Adventure has taken me and that you find something that you love as much as I've loved creating them.
Yes they do become my little friends while coming together in the Magic Workshop.
I get asked quiet often 'how long does it take you to create these". To paraphrase the Australian Artist Ken Done ~ 48 years, that's how long I've been on earth and what you see there is the culmination of all that time.
A straight answer? A few days to a few months. My Talismans are 3D collages. They are created in layers, each of which is hand manipulated (bent, folded, tooled), cut, smoothed, fitted, connected and then creativly worked into context.
I don't measure my love in hours or set an hourly fee on it. I'm NOT a plumber. How can I tell you what I'm worth, Art is my Passion, not my job and each creation a true reflection of my passion. My prices are pretty much reflective of the market in handmade jewellery. That I feel is fair.

So on with the RELEASE!

I am going to showcase each and every Talisman that is available tonight on this blog. You can browse to your hearts content all day (every time you return to this blog, refresh the page to see the new pieces as I'm adding continuously).
TONIGHT at 8:00pm Sydney Australia time
I will open the doors to my ETSY SHOP where all of the Talismans listed below will be available for sale
You will need to purchase ON THE ETSY SITE. You can use Paypal or Credit Card or Direct Deposit.
(Direct Deposit ~ Australian account holders only ~ click on OTHER PAYMENT type and I will contact you)
Other than my Spell and Blessing Nooks, 99.9% of my Talismans are unique and I can not 'reproduce' them so it really is first in best dressed.
All of my Talismans come with a little Dedication Kit to align your Intentions with you piece. This includes a written Dedication Ritual, a Charcoal block, herbs, resins and spices!

Each Talismans arrives with a care sheet and your guarantee. I provide a one year guarantee which includes my undertaking to repair at my cost any item that is faulty, comes apart under normal wear and circumstance. I cover registered postage under this guarantee.
Repairs: I repair items you break too! Hey it happens. There is no charge but I do ask that you pay return registered postage.

Why Spiritual Art Adventurer?

Actually I'm sitting here amused that I'm even writing this post.

After-all I had promised myself to "NOT FEED THE TROLLS" :)
But I have also had lots of lovely emails and messages from people who "get" me and "got" it straight away.
To all of you THANK YOU!
Those of you that are on the fence scratching your heads,  well its probably because you are relatively new to my work and what I do.

"Sedona Morning" pastel Cheralyn Darcey

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Spiritual and Religious Art...
ALL of it.

Because I do have a strong connection with a particular faith, I also believe that ALL art is in fact a spiritual St_bridget_wallhanging response by humans. I believe that to desire to create is a human trait that is triggered by our spirit, soul, light being, the thing that is more than us/the core of us!
That which is more easily identified as Spiritual and Religious Art though REALLY gets me excited.

I can't even remember when it all began, just that this love and appreciation and connection with such works has drawn me in and moved me to participate and share. To collect, to create, to teach and to travel and explore.

Mexico-chiapas-sancristcasaWhether it's a dusty tiny church in a Mexican village, the ancient fertility carvings in an old museum, grand sweeping mosaics in a Cathedral in Europe, the ornate crucifix on a fellow bus passenger or the pagan tshirt on a passerby, they are all part of my Adventure.

Over the years I have created, exhibited, been in art prizes and of course taught! I've written articles for magazines and books and I'm here on the web. Everything though has been a little of this and a little of that. It hasn't looked as cohesive as my own work actually is. That's mostly through fear. *chuckle* Obviously well founded judging by the little nest I've ruffled up. My fear has been that people might not understand.

Let me show you.....I have a bunch of kids I hang out with a few times a month. They are all nationalities, all cultures and have lots of different beliefs of their own and have been brought up in still more. We all have ONE THING in common, Art.  The amazing thing is I can see the difference it makes by speaking our spirit in the form of art. It's easy I know when you are a kid, but it's not impossible as an adult.  Cru

I am on a lifelong Adventure to explore more and I have a wealth of information from where I have been. My decision to 'get out of the map room" and start sharing is a huge step but it's what I believe in. It's my passon to share what I know and what I discover  with those who want to come along with me.

If you don't believe me, I swear to you, it's just that you haven't found your medium yet (no pun intended!)
Even if you never make a thing... the journey is still wonderful. To see what others are doing, to collect, to share and just see and feel is all part of the artistic experience. Artists don't make things for just their eyes, well only the shy ones or the ones with REALLY out there Biennale projects!

There IS such a thing as a spiritualist and I honour that but I use the word in its broadest meaning and I use it because people do understand what that means....see above, I mean that THING inside you, your soul, spirit, spark, inner glow!
I hate labels too but hey I'm sorry we all speak and communicate with words NOT telepathically...YET.
I had thought of just being the (insert symbol here...ha!) or even just sticking my name on everything and be done with it BUT my work
"To Seek Happiness" sculpture & assemblage
Cheralyn Darcey

(yes what I DO with my art and skills) is not about ME, it's about YOU!

So what is going on EXACTLY?
Nothing too dramatic, just the same me but with the Magic Workshop doors flung right open.
I would love you to come in and share with me... there are only two rules...

1. PLAY NICE! All religions, beliefs, cultures and people and their art are honoured, welcomed and loved here. This is NOT a forum for religious/spiritual debate... the last time I had a peek,  Facebook and the Internet had lots of such people and places ranging from religious hardliners to those who denounce anyone daring to call themselves spiritual at all. Are you a Robot? No? Guess what? You have a Spirit, you ARE Spiritual, whatever other label, word, moniker, character, symbol, pictogram you want to give it.
Sharing of ideas is encouraged!
We share it in the form of ART here.

Remember Street Kids are doing it brilliantly so you should not have any problem at all.

Thank you for being part of this Adventure!
So lets go find some Art!  :)

VERY soon (in the next two weeks) I begin an online free art challenge page where we explore lots of these topics in an Adventure style. I hope you join us

Wings of Success Blessings & Spells Postcard!

Here is your little Blessings & Spell Postcard for THIS week.
I am now featuring artwork I have made too.
This is the detail from an artwork of mine from about 1995 I think. Works well with this theme.
I know a lot of you are working on submissions for various things so before you hit the send button, seal the envelope or drive off to the interview try this....

Happiest Creative Blessings,

Cheralyn xx

For this spell you will need to first protect and ground yourself, as with ALL spell work..
Protection can be in the form you find works for you or simply by surrounding yourself with pure white light from above.
Grounding can also be as you see fit or by visualizing yourself connected to earth and then spreading roots deep within the earth to the warm glowing core.
Bring the energy back to you and feel it beat with your intentions. REALLY focus on wht you want to happen and be positive with your energy!
After your spellcasting, send the light back, release your attachment to the core of earth, shake, clap, yell, stamp your feet!
Come back to now and here.

I would let the candles burn right down.

Yes you can share it and print it out too! xx

Flower Therapy

Flower-therapy-welcome-the-angels-of-nature-into-your-lifeWishing you all a wonderful Sunday. (or Saturday night!)

If you are in Sydney... how good is it!
Spring is here so I've been gathering wild flowers on my hikes and jogs as well as good sticks.

I LOVE FLOWERS... seriously I do. lol  lol lol
My connection with Flowers has been strong since a life changing visit in Melbourne by my "Lady of Flowers". She's been my protector and guide in hand with Bridget ever since.
Soooo.... if it says "FLOWER" my eyes light up! :)

I found an wonderful book yesterday by Doreen Virtue and Robert Reeves "Flower Therapy"... Just so magical, filled with the very best spiritual and naturopathic wisdom. Robert is brilliant!!!!!
An amazing reference to treasure.

Have a fantastic magical creative
and I wish you a flower filled day

Good Sticks & Precious finds

Photo-12 This is so a lead in to the secrets that are going on behind the Magic Workshop curtain! lol
I am a lover of.... GOOD STICKS and I have to say sometimes they don't have to LOOK like anything in order to be classified as a good stick. They just feel right.
The thing is, well I have a enough Good Sticks collected to build  house and I've never been too sure of what should happen to them... until now *cheeky grin*
It's all coming together nicely and this photo, though not showing you AT ALL what my new Talismans look like, holds a lot of clues....

OH the Goddess Stick! She was found by a very loved friend in a Fairy Circle last year in the UK.
She is so precious to me this Good Stick and if I've ever read for you I'm sure you have seen her sitting on my cards. She has a special case and sits in my pocket when I'm creating too. Next year I'm going 'home' with her.
I'll be sharing ideas for YOUR Good Sticks  so start collecting and gettng them together

Spiritual Art Adventurer NEWS! September 7th 2012

to recap....
At Biennale I experienced this amazing soul stirring Sculpture created by Philip Beesley.
It is a kinetic piece which moves in response to human interaction. This occurs through gentle touch, presence and through movement.
The delicate white fronds, lift and quiver, fascinating gold liquid filled bulb shaped vessels glow in increments to a blaze and over time crystal glass splinters retract and progress through space with our interaction.
It is a delight to the soul to interact with this piece and I was left feeling I had made a connection with another  entity. The feeling of response to my touch which I read as happiness and pleasure in turn increased these feelings in me.
I am thinking it is much like the returned response from an animal that fills us with joy and lifts our spirits, but because the responses are not known ahead and totally unexpected in what appers to be an inanimate object the effect is heighten considerable.
The sculpture spans and fills a dark space within the Cockatoo facility and this adds a dramatic layer of other worldliness.

Get along if you are in Sydney!

  Philip Beesley

Hylozoic Series: Sibyl, 2012
laser-cut acrylic, Mylar, aluminium, copolyester, silicon, glass, shape-memory alloy, custom PCBs, LEDs, thin gauge electrical wire, 2000 x 740 x 400 cm
Project team: Jonathan Tyrrell, Eric Bury, Martin Correa, Brandon DeHart, Susanne Eeg, Andrea Ling, Elena Moliotsias, Anne Paxton, Anne Sewell, Kristie Taylor, Mingyi Zhou, in collaboration with Rob Gorbet, Rachel Armstrong, Martin Hanczyc and Mark-David Hosale
Artist Statement
The spaces in the Hylozoic Series (2011) contain tens of thousands of lightweight digitally fabricated components fitted with microprocessors and proximity sensors that react to human presence. This responsive environment functions like a giant lung that breathes in and out around its occupants. Arrays of touch sensors and shapememory alloy kinetic components create waves of empathic motion, luring visitors into a fragile forest of light. The structural scaffolds within these environments tend to use tessellated geometries that can accommodate distortions and failure within their fabrics. Similar to the functions of a living system, embedded machine intelligence allows human interaction to trigger breathing, caressing, and swallowing motions. This interaction also influences the growth of a primitive chemical metabolism that circulates within vessels running throughout the meshwork. Subtle impacts register air moving around the body of the viewer, changes in surrounding magnetic fields disturbed when passing. Interaction fosters awareness of many presences and many dimensions. Rather than human-centred power, ethics of mutual relations within wide and sometimes alien systems are implied by this work.

I was blown away with this deck this week:
Witches Tarot  by author Ellen Dugan a Witch and Tarot Reader (oh and it shows!) and Award-winning artist Mark Evans.
I have begun reading with the deck, including  a wonderful afternoon with two very close friends and Tarot devotees and Witches. We all agreed the deck is brilliant.

FULL REVIEW later this week.
The artwork is still closely aligned with the Rider Waite Smith model and just really breathtaking. Favs so far The Moon, The Star and the Eight of wands and and and and... lol

Ok I linked in to this one earlier this week for the happy snappers out there... well the VERY amazing happy snappers!
 Macquarie Photography Prize 2012

PAINTERS! The Paddington Art Prize 2012. I LOVE this gallery and have exhibited here in the past. It's tucked away in the rabbit warren of gorgeousness that is Paddington though firmly stands on the famous Art Trail! You have TIME! Entries close in October,
check out the details HERE: Paddington Art Prize 2012

IMG_2155In Australia you will find that MOST local councils support an art prize and are a great resource to help you find out what's going on in the Art World in your neighbourhood. Contact them or look at their websites. YES you can usually enter art prizes and become involved in projects outside of your area. Check the details closely though.
Other council attached places such as Environment Centers, Libraries and Community Centers are also natural places to not only find such resources BUT get involved with Community work where you can make your art help out either through sharing your skills and knowledge or by donating works to projects and participating in Festivals and Exhibitions where part proceeds go to local initiatives. GET INVOLVED!

GOOGLE! seiously where ever you are in the wonderful world google "Art Exhibitions (place name)" THEN get out there and immerse yourself. There really is nothing better than an hour or a day doing so. You don't have to be an expert or know anything. Just have the desire to be there. I think these days with the big and popular exhibitions that we are lucky enough to have, most people are pretty familar with participating but I still occasionally hear the "oh I feel awkward in the smaller places" Just jump in. Galleries big and small, commercial and public are there for YOU! No one expects you to buy, but every artist would LOVE you to see what they are doing.
In Australia, I can not reccommend this publication and online presence highly enough! (oh and for my collage and Soul Collage friends, the books make a GREAT resource!... watch out for copyright though!)

But remember, it's not all about exhibition and art prizes! Just being an artist, creating anything be it beading, cooking, painting, writing, gardening, all of it IS a Spiritual Art Adventure. It's that time of space, when you can let go and just be. Where your dreams can play, where you can work things out, speak with your inner voice, reveal and just have simple old fashioned play doh and crayon fun but perhaps with updated mediums.

Looking for crew members for an exploration!
I have a new feature here to share with you. Monthly Spiritual Art Adventures (projects!)  begins. I am VERY VERY excited about this. It's free, its for EVERYBODY no matter your experience and it's going to be FUN!
There will be free tutorials, a forum, lots of fun and sharing!

It all starts this coming Monday 10th September 2012.
Join the Crew for an Adventure!!
Information will be posted here on the Blog so stay tuned.
