Flowerscope web 28th Nov

Select a flower you feel particularly drawn to find guidance and insight into your week ahead by clicking on the link next to that Flower.
You may wish to select a different Flower each morning or just one for the week.

How does Florasphere FlowerScope Work?
I carefully select the Flowers each Sunday evening which I feel connect with the energies of the coming week using the Language of Flowers.
This is based on Traditional Flower Reading and the energies of Nature.
Your selection will indicate which of these energies particularly relate to you and give you support and assistance in navigating the week ahead.

How Can I Connect with My Flower?
There are many ways to connect with your Flowerscope Flower simply thinking about the flower, meditating on it, drawing it, downloading an image to keep beside you, growing it and creating flower essences and botanical products to use as well. Hold your flower close all week to tap into the Natural Energies and gets of support and insight.

❁ This Magickal Gardening Week ~ broccoli, snapping dragons & the celery forest

It's a busy week with my work as I complete illustrations for my fourth Flower deck which will be released early next year and I'm sure being lost each day in the dreamy tones of spring in these delicate watercolours is no coincidence. I have found I work best when what I am creating aligns with the turning seasons, with what is occurring in my garden and environment. The energy, messages and wisdom I am then sharing through my writing and art is pure and clear.

A few Flowers in my garden this week ~

Snapdragons!
Antirrhinum
I planted these out last year and it is a joy to see their return. Chattering to each other in a quiet corner of my back garden, they seem to hold court while watching over their soon to arrive flower friends, daisy, jasmine and cornflower.
The Language of Flowers: truth~telling, grace, secrets, "I long for you"

Bottlebrush
Callistemon
Oh it is time for cleansing away the sleepiness of winter, of letting go of the dream~state and awakening and so Bottlebrush is making a most welcome appearance not only in my garden but naturally everywhere!
The Language of Flowers: balance, cleansing, clarity "I understand"

Bottlebrush photo 2

Pigface
Carpobrotus
Nothing speaks to me of childhood summers really like these. They grew in abundance in the rockeries of my grandparents home.
Perfectly strong, yet somehow a little unreal with their bright petals springing forth from leaves which to my eye, never really looked somehow matched to these flowers.
The Language of Flowers: survival, tenacity, forgiveness "I forgive and let go"

Calendula
Calendula officinalis
So blessed with the love of this plant. She is growing so well nestled next to my Wormwood with brilliant orange faces greeting each dawn.
The Language of Flowers: contentment, cleansing, healing "I am grateful"

And so the Veggie Garden
It is time to harvest the last of Winter and so prepare for Summer. Memories of rosy red tomatoes and crisp green lettuce are enticing me to being the preparation of the soil, to rest some areas, to work others so all will be ready. The chill is leaving our mornings and nights and the earth is opening, warming and ready to welcome the plants of the coming seasons.

Harvest this week:

Celery
We have been enjoying celery for weeks and weeks but we are heading into a very abundant time and I'm loving adding it to juices and just about everything from frittatas to asian dishes.

Celery

Broccoli
The time is over for nibbling as we delight in the very last of this year's crop. One of my all time favourite vegetables, I'm personally just about living on it and the taste is amazing. Steamed with a tiny bit of lemon juice ~ YUM!

IMG_3373

Herbs
Well I'm constantly harvesting herbs, its the best way to ensure they grow but right now I have a really bumper amount of thyme, rosemary, wormwood, vervain, calendula, parsley, rocket and society garlic.

FLOWER OF THE DAY ❁ Frangipani (Plumeria alba)

Flower Affirmation ~ "I am happy and free"

Frangipani new photo webcards

Will Assist You ~
by helping boost your confidence and showing you where you may find greater freedoms and harmony. Releasing you from what holds you. If you are looking at taking a break or a holiday, Frangipani helps you to really enjoy yourself and to recharge.
Language of Nature, Flowers and Plants Oracle ~
The true feelings of yourself or another are in focus at the moment so be sure that you take notice. If you are looking for the answer to something, it is yes or positive in it's outcome.
Opportunities for holidays, rest, as well as renewal and even beginnings is surfacing for you.
Be very careful not to take anything at face value right now and step carefully because you will be fully held accountable for your actions at this time.
Gardening Note ~
So easy to grow in most warmer climates. They do not like the cold and prefer a war sunny spot for best growth. I've always grown mine from the cuttings and found that although you can just stick them in the ground, for the best and strongest growth, dry them out in a cool dry place for 6 weeks and then plant on top of a fish in sandy soil or you could just use Seasol :)
Flower Lore ~
Oh there are so many wondrous histories connected with Frangipani. Two of my favourites which I practice myself ~
you must wake them up each morning as some Asian Monks do by gentle knocking on them.
Another, from South America, is to always plant them at the front of cemeteries or your home so that evil spirits are confused by their scent and pass by.

May Nature Bless you always,
Cheralyn Darcey xx

❁ Will Assist You In ~
Time of negotiation. It will clear the air and settle emotions so that progress can be made. Supports those involved with any sort of problem solving. Let's new thinking and education be assimilated more easily.

❁ The Language of Flowers Oracle ~
Stop fighting whatever it is that you are at the moment. Billy Buttons often shows up to say "STOP! This can not go on. Make peace and progress" The flower also can indicate that you are in denial about something or perhaps you may be making a very 'big deal' out of a challenge and exaggerating it's worth or difficulty. You actually do know you can do it and how that will look! This flower also indicates the end of a difficult situation is near.

❁ Gardening Notes ~
Billy Buttons, a perennial, are also known as Drumsticks in some parts of Australian, a native to this country, they are drumstick shaped flower heads which grow to a height of about 40cm which love locations which are rather swamp~like so prefer a moist yet well drained soil structure in a sunny location.

Flower of the Day ~ ❁ Jasmine (Jasminum officinale)

If you are on the Eastern seaboard of Australia, you may, like me, be experiencing the beautifully uplifting first flush of this powerfully healing and guiding flower. So it was no surprise that I selected Jasmine's card so often in readings over the past few days, that people kept mentioning Jasmine to me and I would notice other messages in written and visual form. The energy is very strong on the physical plane and so corresponding points will rise up to meet it. This also means that the energies, the gifts and blessings of this plant are more available for those who wish to work with it.

Jasmine new photo wecards

Will Assist You In:
Succeeding. Perhaps one of the best flowers in fact to align with if you are finding sticking with goals, promises, commitments or staying on course at all challenging. Very supportive of those who feel they have lost hope with something. Jasmine naturally attracts financial gain as well so is really good to have around if you need a boost. The flower is a powerful aphrodisiac and assists to attract love.

Language of Flowers Oracle:
The impossible may be within reach. A new point of view may be offered to unlock what has not been possible in the past. There is an indication of social gathers/celebrations. A chicory, promotion, step up seem very likely. Be very careful of losing sight of your original goals and thereby wasting valuable time on side projects which will waste your time. Exhaustion is very possible as there is a lot of choice coming up. Be very careful of becoming obsessional over something that is doing you no real good. Remember, you can do anything but that doesn't mean you have to do everything is the message of Jasmine.

Flower Traditions & Flower Lore:
For my Flowers of the Night Oracle lovers ~ an Indian story speak of a beautiful princess who was in love with Surya~Deva, the sun god. Unfortunately he was not interested in her at all. She tragically took her own life and after her ashes were spread over the ground, the Jasmine flower grew. It is said that the flowers refuse to open or be fragrant during the day because of their broken heart.
Jasmine has often been associated with love and in various traditions to attract love, heal love and also as an aphrodisiac. If you carry a piece of Jasmine it is said to attract money or physical love and dreaming of Jasmine or seeing it in a guided meditation is a very good sign that your luck is about to change for the better.

❁ How Can You Explore Your Passion & Power with an Oracle Deck?

Researching and studying ethnobotany (the relationship between people and plants), the language of flowers, healing modalities which are flower~based, the traditions, myths, folk and herbal lore of flowers, I found time and again, the patterns which lead me to easily creating Flower Oracles based on themes which relate to us directly. This is a foundation of ethnobotanical study and makes it rather easy to create a tool for personal growth, healing and guidance. My new Oracle Deck ~ 'Flowers of the Night Oracle' is part of my over three decade commitment to the study of flowers and us and the themes of power and of passion ran strong and true through all flowers which either blossom at night or have physical attributes which the night enhances such as a far stronger fragrance.
We can not have access to all the flowers of the world every day in our pocket, so it was my hope many years ago to create oracle decks which would share the Flower Wisdom and Lore with everyone, no matter the season or where they found themselves. There is great truth in following the signs of the seasons which surround you but even in the most ancient traditions, people have used images and dried botanicals and taken much interest in the dreams and visions of those plants not in season or in the immediate surrounds to guide and support. The absence of something and our continued connection with it actually shows a stronger connection to it's meaning, message and gifts.

Exploring your Passion and Power with The Flowers of the Night Oracle
Within the Guidebook of the Oracle there are reading spreads and other suggestions for using this deck for yourself and for others. Readings can answer questions and assist with topics focused on finding your passion in life, in understanding why it may be difficult to find or to stay true to the course began. Suggestions on additional paths to explore and solutions to difficult issues which have arisen. The meanings of these Flowers are naturally stronger than others and they are clear, focused and very easy to follow. They may in fact at times be a little too strong. Think of Jasmine. At times we may enjoy and in fact need to have our senses flushed with the aroma, and be tangled with it in our hair as we pass through a summer filled arch of it's glory but at other times perhaps just a faint remembrance on a warm breeze is enough. We do not want to be overwhelmed with it's intoxication. Floramancy, Flower Reading with the Flowers of the Night, needs to be approached in the same way.
Exploring your Passions can be a subject which requires additional illumination. Passions which are aligned with romance, creativity, career, friendships, life direction, blocks, these are areas which benefit from the wisdom and the energy of the Flowers which connect with the Shadows, with the Night. These Plants bloom strong and clear in the evening, they call out in the darkest night with their fragrances, their energy , empowered by the moon and stars and bring with them strong messages which you may learn from and align with.

Fox tv Damask violet ecardExamples

As I mentioned, oracle reading spreads are included in the Guidebook and you can use these for general readings along with reading spreads that you may already know and any topic
can be explored. By using the Flowers of the Night Oracle cards, you will see readings which are a little stronger in emotion and message, particularly over other Flower Oracle Reading Cards. For example, a simple three card spread exploring the past, present and future of an issue could bring up Night Flowers which share messages connected with themes such as sensuality, awareness, intuition. Flowers of the Night would be showing you that the answers may lie in how you feel about a the issue, that you are becoming more aware of these feelings and perhaps you could use you intuition a little more when looking towards the future. I would use this Oracle if I felt drawn to do so in a general reading, if I wanted to explore the powers and foundations that surround the issues or the passions and emotions which drive it.

If you wanted to explore the theme of Passion more closely, this deck is perfect. The Flowers all connect and align beautifully with Power and with Passion and you will find it very easy to attain deeper insight into both. Use the provided spreads or others and once you settle on your direction of discovery, you will find that the Flowers drawn from the deck with provide a very clear path to follow. Assistance is offered to those working out what their passion, their passion is, how they can better attain a life which is filled with this passion and how to overcome challenges. Guidance and clarity can also be found in matters of romance and of the heart, including close friendships. Questions can be answered and timelines can be formed to give you a plan and direction.

Card of the Day
In a similar way your powers can be examined. What is it that is hindering you? What needs to change? How can you strengthen your resources or even find them. The Flowers of the Rose 1 Night will bring forth these answers in any oracle spread you use or even more simply as a Card of the Day. I find drawing a Flower of the Night from my growing deck each evening to be a fascinating lesson. I can see what it is that I could focus on internally that night in order to make a change for the coming day. For example, last night I drew The Rose of Mexico and it's themes are strength and resilience, of over coming what may seem insurmountable. That night I did lie in bed and had a few moments of reflection were I realised that I had been worried about a difficult issue. I felt so much better as I calmed myself and focused on being stronger with hesitation the following day.

Flower Therapy
All of my Flower Reading Oracle Cards are based on the Tradition of Floramancy, a divination tradition which aligns with the Language of Flowers but has a far greater connection with the Doctrine of Signatures and Herbal Lore. Because of this, the cards can be used in healing modalities as the actual attributes which you will find in these modalities are the same. In Flowers Essence Therapy they work wonderfully an additional attribute resource and prescribing tool. In creative meditation they could provide a focus and in all healing modalities as a guide to the properties and wisdoms of the Flowers. The Flowers of the Night, with their nature focus on Passions and Power could also be a really interesting counselling tool. Those working with aromatherapy could also find it an interesting resource to explore the properties of those flowers suitable in this modality.

If you would like to know any more about this Oracle or any of my work with Flowers
or have any questions,
I would love to hear from you.

Until then,
May Nature and flowers bless you always,

Flower of the Day ~ Purple Coneflower Echinacea purpurea

FLOWER OF THE DAY
I love opening up my flower research journals and finding our flower of the day. Especially old sketches! Today I did so and a very appropriate one appeared for us.

Coneflower webcards new

We are all aware, I'm sure, of the immunity and healing properties of echncea and its messages are very aligned of course.
Be very aware of situations which are toxic or moving that way on all levels today and be sure to act with grace and dignity. This precious flower reminds up to stay true to ourselves and to look after our personal wellbeing through living in wholeness.
You can grow Purple Coneflower very easily. An autumn flowering beauty that adds a gorgeous display as well as being a natural organic accessible source of the healing gifts it has to share. Be aware that it a largish flower bed plant and needs a little more room than you would imagine. Most people seeing mine in the garden seem to express their delight in their size. Butterflies adore them so they are not only helping you but nature too!

This Week ~ Book Completed, Yoga & Free Running Nasturtiums

BOOK COMPLETED

To finish creating anything , a book, an artwork, anything creative, is a very strange mix of emotions.
This week, Friday at 2:30pm Sydney time to be exact, I completed writing what I refer to as my 'Big Book'.

Gar4
Well, it's not particularly big but it has filled a very big part of my world for decades. It's a book I wanted and couldn't find and it's a book which is particularly special as I feel it brings all my work together and provides a very good foundation for what is to come.
I got to a certain point with the book two months ago and I realised something additional needed to be included and I have worked solidly around the clock to make that happen for Deadline. It has meant that I did need to put many things aside and I haven't been the best friend, family member or even participant in a lot of things while I made it all happen. My mind, body and soul were 100% focused on the book for that time.
Some relationships were tested and others strengthened by it and new ones emerged because there is no more selfish thing to do than to completely give yourself over to a creative project, without out-sourced administration or a daily living infrastructure to support you. The bottom line, I can not afford either and need to be pretty much the soul provider of these these things for various reasons.  I think if I could afford to provide these things? I would probably love a cleaner, a manager and an assistant. In that order.
Now I am out the other side, I have to say that as wonderful as the moment is, it didn't come without a few scars. I've put on a few kilos. I went to the gym 5 times a week but sitting on your bum all those hours and getting the nibbles because you gave up coffee will do it! So the mission is on to remove those now. I've missed really good opportunities as I have not been able to follow up on them or notice them before it was too late and I've not participated in many activities, groups and involvements which I enjoy. Oh and my house is as dusty as a haunted house and let's not go into the fridge/science experiment!
But the garden is wonderful.

planting winter crops
planting winter goodness

The seasons stop for nothing and without my dawn gardening daily ritual, I think I would of 'lost it'.

I am incredibly grateful for those who supported me with their friendship, love and interest.
There are many people who follow my work surrounding Botanical History and the branch of Ethnobotany I follow with the focus I have with Flowers and I am blessed with the path crossings and the time we spend together. While it is also true I have also experienced a few disappointments along the way recently, the majority of people are really lovely and genuine, without an agenda and with an honest interest in this field of work and for that I have found a lot to be grateful for.

So the 'Big Book' is completed and I have illustrations to tidy up and finish over the next week and then await the machinations of publishing to happen. It's an exciting time and a funny time. You finish and now you wait and wonder what will be for your baby, but you need to let go. Of course I wonder and worry if I did enough, if I did it 'right' but I did what was in my heart and I created from a place of loving nature, botany, gardening and people and it comes from the foundation all the work I have done and all the experiences I have had in this field for over three decades so if nothing else, there is complete truth to the work.

Book
Now off you go book, fly and be free and may you land in the hands of those who love the subject as I do and perhaps bring sunshine and warmth as you have me.

YOGA
So through all this last couple of months, I joined the local gym, found an amazing Personal Trainer, who happens to be the gym Yoga Teacher so not only did i start doing some more serious working out but I began doing Yoga. I love both. Firstly Helen, my trainer, has done amazing things getting me to do weights again by working around the injury issues I have, to the point that I can now raise my arm to all extension (yes I'm amazed!) I've also overcome my fear of Yoga. Well not Yoga itself, just the uber competitiveness and cliqueiness of any classes I've tried. Helen runs the most wonderful space and I adore going.
Not only have I begun Yoga, so has Mr Darcey!

Yoga
that's a pretty good tree

TRAVEL
Sadly we have had to postpone our trip to Uluru in a few weeks for personal reasons. We did share with all our friends and family that this was happening but as those close to us know, it really won't be possible right now. All things sometimes for a reason.
We are now looking at September and perhaps may even be able to extend to a bit of a Wildflower Trek as well.

FLOWER GARDENING
It's defiantly Nasturtium time for me!

Gar1
Yes they can run wild and need to be looked after but there's something uplifting and enlivening about these flowers happily tumbling over everything isn't there? They are connected with vitality and victory and heal those feeling deflated or exhausted. They seem to give you that kick you need to get over the line. Yes yes, I did find much strength with my Nasturtium friends in the garden the past few weeks myself ;)

Web card nasturnium

So easy to grow and they are delicious in salads, wraps and sandwiches. I grow mine in areas which are challenging for other plants as they provide a pretty fill while still being useful. As I said, you need to watch these cheeky guys as they will take over! I've planted standards, climbing and dwarf and hopefully will have some black velvets to show you in the coming weeks.

WHAT'S COMING UP?
Well my poor old social media sites, websites and so on are looking sad at the moment so you can look forward to new energy over at my Youtube Channel this week with Flower of The Day Videos beginning! I know how much you all love the postcards so this is an extension of that

I have just noticed I seem to have somehow lost my URL and need to find out what happened there. Ah another technical task to do this week.

FLORA FLOWER

I have shared Flora publicly for a few years now after being frightened for a very long time of someone 'stealing' her.
Silly as she deserved to be out in the sunshine.
Flora stories
I've shared the story of the young flower girl who loves gardening and nature with many people for many years before that and I've often wondered where she would 'end up'. I'm still not sue but rest assured that behind the scenes I have been working on a few projects which involve her. My dream is to see her animated one day but before that in a series of books.
