GUIDED MEDIATIONS
If you asked me when I began meditation, I could not tell you exactly.
Really I do not think many of us could.
The state that meditation is, mind restful state can occur through chance as much as through practice.
As a child, being read a bedtime story as you nod off to sleep, relaxed, weaving yourself into
the plot is a form of meditation. Many times you would of awoken, happier, empowered with new possibilities from the suggestions in the story that where induced by the calming voice that relaxed you and guided you.

I am often asked, what is meditation and listened to laments that people 'can't' do it.

Meditation is simply the quieting of  the mind to focus on something else.
You can meditate on nothing. This is the form that various religious orders employ and it is very beneficial as a healing and spiritual method though extremely hard for most people.
Try it right now. Close you eyes and think of...... nothing.

Yes it can be done and usually takes years of dedicated practice.

The most familiar form is GUIDED MEDITATION.
Someone leads the meditation by the telling a calming and healing 'story'.
The narration will begin with the meditation leader guiding the listeners to relax and
then they will paint a scene which will include suggestions to induce a change that is beneficial.

WHAT HAPPENS IN MEDITATION?
What should you experience?
Everyone hs a different experience, there is no right or wrong way.
I have been to meditations circles and listened to others talk of how much the 'saw' with great detail afterwards and just as many whisper in frustration that they didn't SEE anything. Actually 'seeing' things with your eyes closed is a different experience for each person. I can tell you that I see but its not as if a flat screen tv rolls down behind my eyelids and projects a HD movie.

I think for most people its pretty intangible. It is like daydreaming. Have you ever drifted off thinking about something else in the trance of daydreaming?
You are IMAGINING something else, not looking at the scene in front of you?
When you 'snap out of it' you can easily talk of what you where IMAGINING. You where SOMEWHERE else and you can describe it pretty easily.
"Oh I was at the beach, not here in the office!"
"lol, yeah I was back with my date on the weekend!"
You may not of SEEN the daydream in Technicolour awesomeness but you definitely
RECREATED the scene in your MINDS EYE.
It is far easier to do this with things we have done before.
The key to daydreaming is that for some reason you got relaxed first. The boring lecture, the tiredness of a big day, the rhythmic tapping of keyboards. These things lulled your physically into a relaxed state and then your mind.... ESCAPED!

It is far easier for the mid to escape to what makes it happy and it knows well or even what it worries or fears than to meditate on something new and different. Your minds eye just needs practice.
But never force it. The secret to meditation is that the entire process is beneficial. There is no more gain to be had with the degree of definition of your internal tv screen in  guided meditation.

All you need to do is relax and listen.

Do not strive to see more...... give in, let go and relax.
What ever happens, however you see is really not important.
What is vital is that you relax because the suggestions in the meditation work best in a relaxed mind.

Also remember, each person, each mind, each meditation experience is completely different for each person. Do not compare and do not measure.

WILDFLOWER MEDITATION
I have used meditation in my Art, Craft, Tarot and Metaphysical classes as a tool to relax and focus students on the path and the skills they are seeking in my courses. Many times it's been the favourite part of the lesson for the week with great revelations, much needed time out and shared focus.

Meditation at present for me is vital in my work developing my oracle decks and the associated work with Flowers. I have also found that I am changing while I am connecting deeper with Wildflowers and the connections that each are making is a gift for everyone.
Now I'm sharing the things I am learning with everyone.

Thank you so much for joining me.

I would love to hear about your experiences, see artworks, scribbles, doodles, words, poetry dreams and affirmations and I am happy to listen to you and answer as best I can any questions you may have.
You can leave your comments below on this post and links to your images are very much welcme.

May you be Blkessed with all you every Need my Friend....

Flower Spirit Reading ~ Is it 'Flower Reading'?

This one came up a few times again over the weekend.
Along with the question being asked, people then want to know what I think of it.

Traditional Flower Reading
(what I do)

Flower Reading is something we all can do, no matter how 'psychic' we are, what we believe or what we practice. In fact, you already do it without realising. To understand Nature, is to read what is known as 'The Doctrine of Signatures' or the term I prefer 'The Language of Nature'. You may of also noticed this referred to when speaking of flowers as 'The Language of Flowers'. The other term I have come across is 'The Language of All Things'. When connected directly with just Flowers the terms Floromancy and Floramancy are also used.

I really do not believe that a psychic or mediumship 'ability' even improves your ability to understand this. Through teaching Flower Reading, what I have noticed is that these abilities add an additional layer, an additional modality WHILE the person is conducting a Consultation directly with another person.

What does improve it is study and experience with Nature and Nature based modalities. Observation skills are paramount and this is why I teach sketching and art in my Flower reading Workshops and courses because through these we become part of the picture, the energy of Nature and Flowers. Why is this so important? Because Flowers and Nature are not our tools. Traditional Flower Reading involves interaction, it involves being a part of Nature. observing then joining in, then sharing what you have learned.

So what Is the Other Flower Reading?

In this type of reading the person will offer messages from those passed or they will offer you divination if you bring a flower or select a flower from them. The actual flower meanings will usually be basic if offered at all. In this type of reading there is little conversation as the reading is completely messages and oracle divination.

This is Psycometry, the method of reading an object that a person has touched or been connected with in some way with psychic abilities to gain a divination reading or they may use the fLower as an anchor through with someone who has passed can send a message. This is mediumship. Someone who reads via Psycometry is reading the vibrational energy pattern of you through the flower or of the person who has passed. This type of Flower Reading is popular in Spiritual Churches and places which feature mediumship.

The Differences between the Two?
In a Traditional Flower Reading there is a lot more conversation going on between you and
the Flower Reader as you explore and discover your connections for guidance, healing and
balance as well as importantly reconnection to what is going on around you.
No 'one' is telling you what to do, this is personal empowerment through connecting with
Nature more closely.
In a nutshell I will often share:
A Psycometry Reading will give an answer; a Flower Reading will illuminate definite
possibilities and teach you how to work alongside Nature with what is found.

So What Do I Think?

Does it matter? Well I don't think it does but for the record: I admit that at times I have had the occasional strong message (psycometery) but this I think would happen no matter what modality I was sharing at the time. My energy and focus was just there at the time, with flowers and plants.
I do not see anything 'wrong' with Flower Pyscometery being called Flower Read

ing but the term is miss-leading. To me it's a tiny part of the whole and while I do not know and can not comment on the individual practices of others that I know nothing about, I would hope that there is a deeper connection with Nature.

I stand very strong on the grounds that Nature is not our tool. Any sharing of her gifts in my opinion must come from a position of deep learning and study and also be balanced and this is why I am an active member in my community with environmental projects, it is why I studied Botany, it is why I studied Natural Modalities. I encourage my students to do the same always. To develop a dedicated practice that includes living as a responsible part of nature and being activly involved in it's care.

Environmental Passion

For the past year I haven't exhibited my artwork much, too busy writing my Oracle Decks and Books and creating the artworks for them. The artwork, the message and the entire 'project' that these have been since the first glimmer of perception has been to help the environment.
My hope was to get people really looking at the importance of looking after our plants and our environment and through something that we instantly connect with ~  Flowers!
Clever these Flowers, they know how to attract us!
Flowersculpture

I have felt bad that I haven't joined in various festivals and exhibitions as I used to because I know how vitally important these events are in raising awareness and also funds.

I have continued though working a day a week at the Manly Environment Centre, as hard as that has been some weweks when things have been very busy. We all joke that really its my escape. Its true I do get to disconnect from everything being all about personal projects and me and reconnect with it being all about the environment and my community.

So what do I do there? Well I'm the Social Media person so I create supporting platforms for the Environment and I also write a lot of bits and pieces. I create blogs, newsletters, facebook posts, I tweet and I do a little bit of graphic design too. Sometimes I'm just picking tape off old banners or cutting up clippings or grabbing coffee for someone. I'm there, i show up and thats really what you need to do. It's not about me, it's not about showing everyone how awesome you are, it's being a pair of hands.

There are a lot of projects which come under the banner of the Manly Environment Centre and these are all things which I will do little bits to help with, everything from Shark Cull Rallies to Indigenous Festivals, Clean Up the Beaches, to the Little Penguins, to educational initiative's and the list goes on.

I'm not an expert, I'm not highly trained, I just have a passion to help out that's all.
That's all you need to help these organisations.

So while I haven't been able to say to everyone this year, "Come to this or that exhibition or event of mine" I have shared those events that I've known about with everyone and I have continued on with the hands on work.

My Australian Wildflower Reading Cards have been a huge commitment of time and I am currently working on upcoming titles too and I am thrilled with the response and with the energy of people real understanding their message of connecting closer with Nature and being a part of her, not just an observer.

Though they don't fly the banner or sport a sticker proclaiming them Environmental Activist tools, they are very much a work of environmental passion. I believe that normalising what is already here, tking us back to the simplicity of observing nature, understanding our environment and the biodiversity of it and our place in it so that we are in the mindset of protecting the environment as a matter of course is vitally important right now.

I support wholeheartedly with my time, donations and energy, those who are the Eco Warriors but I feel there is also a definite need for those of us in the everyday to simply share what we know. To sit in a circle in friendship and create through simple daily actions, simple change, simple steps.

The exciting, explosive, shocking, high energy of the protest, the rally, the event, is wonderful and I am all for it and join in too, but there is also a need for the calm continuance and diligent care and LIFELONG CONNECTION with Nature to effect true and lasting change.

From later this year, I will begin exhibiting again at Environmental exhibitions as I have been working behind the scenes on a few other projects. I am also incredibly excited that the artwork for the Australian Wildflower Reading Cards will be featured in some of these exhibitions.

I'll always just create, share and do and I think this past year has taught me that's actually the most important thing and the key to longterm change. Example is the best way to effect change and what we need is the majoity changing. The example should be what is attainable for all to achieve.

When it's not about me, its not about other people either, it's just about creating and sharing, a very strong foundation can be created, an old foundation can be given the attention it needs too.

May Nature always bless you with all that you need!
Love, Cheralyn xx

Book Expo Australia, Sydney August

Book Expo Sydney was fun!

Bookexpo

The opportunity to share with people on centre stage, not only the wisdom
of the Language of Nature but also how to sketch Wildflowers.
MNflannelflower

I met a fantastic Artist, Cartoon Dave
Here's a video of him in Action
(I had to go on after him, now THAT is a hard act to follow!)

And again a wonderful day of friends old and new, sharing the Language of Nature and hearing really inspiring and interesting stories, information and journeys.

Going Back to the Source

Creating my Artworks for my Reading Decks and my Books takes years.
The research happens in libraries, in intuitions, around coffee tables and yes sometimes even bars (ok that was once when the expert wouldn;t give up Monday night darts!), in places far and wide but to really get to know what i am creating and writing about I need to experience the Energy at The Source.
This means being out in Nature (tough job hey!)

To create my artworks I sketch and photograph each flower and plant in place as I find it growing.
From these studies, I will carve linoblocks and wood blocks and print then paint the final artworks which will illustrate my Publications and Reading Card Oracle Decks.

This week I was inspired to take the final images I had created of various works for the AUSTRALIAN WILDFLOWER READING CARDS Oracle Deck back to their source origins. I simply cut and pasted the finial images back into  location photos of the flowers.
No photoshoping for either image in the way of colour change, feathering, templates, effects, nothing except cut, paste and re-size.  Simplicity. taking away so that Nature herself could meld, contain and perhaps accept what i had created.

My first thoughts where to create images so you all could really SEE what goes on, additionally, when I create my works and publications but in fact there is nothing additional to learn at all. This is a subtraction not an addition. Nature takes in and grows around. The layers are all absorbed to become one again.

Working happily now with all my documentation material I have collected over the years to create these pieces in between working on my next Decks. It's a very happy place to be in.

Perhaps to just be is the the message here.
To not be dismissive of the simplicity the pure source that is already here.
Nature will happily accept us as we are if we just let go and step in.
We do not need to bring much at all with us.

may nature always bless you with everything you ever need my friends,
Love Cheralyn xx
